Terms of Service

Last updated: draft, pending legal review -- see the note at the bottom of this page.

1. What these terms cover

These Terms of Service govern your use of On Deck (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use On Deck, created with an email and password or via Google sign-in. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity on your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

3. Subscription, trial, and billing

New accounts get a 14-day free trial. A card is required to start the trial; you won't be charged until it ends. After the trial, the Service is billed at $49/month or $490/year, through Stripe. You can cancel at any time before the trial ends to avoid being charged, and you can cancel your subscription at any time afterward through the billing portal.

The First Month Guarantee: if your first paid month doesn't change anything for you, contact us and we'll refund it -- no form, no retention pitch. This guarantee applies to the first paid billing cycle only.

Founding Member pricing: code BUY6GET6 discounts the annual plan to $294/year, locked in for as long as the subscription is kept. Limited to the first 50 redemptions; once that cap is reached the code stops working at checkout.

4. AI features

Some features (breaking a task into steps, splitting a brain dump into items, and chat on a task) send the relevant text to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Only the specific content needed for that feature is sent -- a task chat, for example, only sees that task's own details, not your other tasks. AI output is a starting point, not guaranteed to be accurate -- review anything it produces before relying on it.

5. Family & Teammates

If you join or create a Family & Teammates group, other members of that group can see your shared calendar and can assign tasks to you (and you to them). Only join a group with people you actually trust with that visibility -- there is no invite/approval step once someone adds you by email.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to violate the law, abuse other users (including family members or teammates), attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the Service, or use it in a way that places excessive load on it outside of normal personal or team use.

7. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. If your account is deleted, your data is removed per the Privacy Policy's retention section.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is." On Deck is a task-management tool, not a medical or clinical product, and doesn't diagnose, treat, or claim to fix any condition. To the extent permitted by law, On Deck isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the update.

Note on this page: this is a first draft, written to reflect what the product actually does rather than generic filler, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Treat it as a starting point, not a finished legal document, until it has been.
